Eagle Fork is rich in historical significance. located on the site of a small bustling 1800's settlement known as "EAGLE FORK" (named for the nearby Eagle Fork of Cuivre River, (now called "Big Creek") Eagle Fork was a stage coach stop with a General Store, Post Office, Blacksmith Shop and the "Drover's Inn". In the Mid to Late 1800's. Cattle. Hogs and even Turkeys were driven down what is now Eagle Fork Lane to the Wentzville area in large numbers by Drover's on horseback. Eagle Fork was the overnight stop for them on the last leg of the journey to Gilmore, MO where their herds were put on the train to the St Louis area stockyards. The (c.) 1850 DROVER"S INN by the road, provided room and board for the Drovers, while their herds and horses were put up in large barns and sheds. The house was also a US Post Office of Eagle Fork. In 1871, G.W.L. Meyer purchased the farm and moved his family here from the Augusta, MO area on November 18, of that same year. They continued to operate the Inn until about 1878, when the Railroad came to Moscow Mills causing the little town to eventually fade away.
